David Beckham
Born on 2nd May 1975. At aged eight, David Beckham had scored more than a hundred goals over three seasons for his team, Ridgeway Rovers of the Enfield District League. Aged 11, whilst watching Blue Peter, he saw a piece about Bobby Charlton's Soccer Skills Tournament. He entered and won, with the highest score ever at Old Trafford, the home of the tournament and of Manchester United. His exceptional talents were quickly in demand by the time he reached his early teens.When the Manchester United talent scout finally came knocking on the door, he signed the contract on his 14th birthday. He was launched fully into the football spotlight in 1996 with his miraculous 60-yard lob of Wimbledon's Neil Sullivan on the opening day and the spectacular goals that followed, enhanced his reputation as one of England's most promising talents. That talent has now matured.
