John McEnroe won Wimbledon mens singles championship three times in 1981, 1983 and 1984. Named 'Superbrat' by the British press John McEnroe was successful at an early age and displayed volatile behaviour on court, back chatting referees, abusing his racket and playing in an unpredictable way. Some say this was the frustration of a tennis genius who could alter his tennis game in order to beat his opponents, changing tactics and style to win spectacularly. He did not have the fastest serve but he could change the speed and angle, his tennis paly was fierce and he made full advantage of being left handed to out play his tennis opponents.  Timing was his great strength in tennis and playing soccer may have helped him with his fast footwork. John McEnroe could have been a more popular tenni splayer but his achievements in tennis are great 77 singles titles, John McEnroe won 17 Grand Slam championships, including nine in men's doubles and one in mixed double. His Davis Cup record was 41-8 in singles and 18-2 in doubles as he helped the U.S. win five Cups. He still plays exhibition tennis and commentates on Wimbledon for British TV amongst many other to tennis tournaments worldwide.
